Stroopwafelproject
With the start of the stroopwafel project in the summer of 2019, a first employment project has started. After a renovation, the garage of Jac-Louis and Gijsbertha has been turned into a small stroopwafel factory. About ninety packs of stroopwafels are baked here every week. The stroopwafels are purchased by local supermarkets and also find their way to Swakopmund and Windhoek.
Although still modest in size, the project employs two people from Epako.
Since May 2020, hardly any stroopwafels have been baked anymore due to the sharply declining demand. Due to the travel restrictions, there are no more tourists in Namibia. The garage has been rented out temporarily, so that income is still coming in from this project that has been standing still.
